In the dark night, by candle light, our ghosts gather.

In this first edition of the core roleplaying game, WHAT WE POSSESS turns down the lights and sets the scene for a strange ghost story. Your group will take part as the dead, pushing the living to action to uncover a strange mystery that shifts and changes as you interact with it. Tell your own ghost stories.

Featuring art by Sam Dow, Raya Sarkar, and Robyn Phelps.

What We Possess seats 2-7 Ghosts.
Games last anywhere from 1-2 hours.
No pre-planning necessary!

Deal out the ways you each died, determine a Location at random, place the Vessels (people, animals, objects, machines) that populate the space, then draw the Haunting card and determine the core mystery you are seeking to understand. The scene is now set.

Then Ghosts take turns setting the scenes into motion, suggesting how the living are moving, what they do, and forming relationships between the elements in the space. And when the group begins to broach the mystery itself? They draw Clue cards, which help create the elements of the mystery itself! As the tension and terror rises in the space, the living will give off energy that the ghosts desperately need to keep acting, and when the terror hits specific levels, you’ll even be able to possess the Vessels themselves, taking a more hands-on approach to solving the mystery, or tormenting the living.

Find the clues to solve the mystery, then find resolution as you see your characters, the living and the dead, to rest.
